We planned your day. All you have to do is show up.

Mood Magazine NYC

There are two ways to experience New York City.

The first is to rush through it.

The second is to savor it.

At Mood Magazine NYC, we prefer the second.

That’s why every Monday on The Morning Show NYC, we share The Mood 10—ten discoveries designed to help you live a more beautiful life. Consider this your invitation to slow down, look around, and fall in love with the city all over again.

Ready? Let’s spend the day together.

10:00 a.m. — Start with History

Begin your morning at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. If you’ve never visited, today is the perfect excuse.

The centennial exhibition, To Uncover and Reveal to the World: Arturo Schomburg’s Library, isn’t just a display of rare books and manuscripts—it’s a reminder that preserving history is an act of hope. Every page, photograph, and artifact tells the story of people who refused to let their contributions be forgotten.

Best of all? Admission is free.

Noon — Lunch in Harlem

You’ve earned it.

Whether you’re a lifelong New Yorker or visiting Uptown for the first time, lunch at Amy Ruth’s is practically a Harlem rite of passage.

Good food has a way of bringing people together, and that’s exactly what you’ll find here. Conversation flows as easily as the sweet tea, and every table seems to have a story.

Our advice?

Stay a little longer than you planned.

2:00 p.m. — Treat Yourself

No one ever regrets ice cream.

Especially when it’s from Sugar Hill Creamery.

This Black-owned Harlem favorite has become known for handcrafted flavors inspired by family, neighborhood, and culture. It’s joyful, creative, and unmistakably Harlem.

Sometimes happiness really is served in a cone.

4:00 p.m. — Learn Something New

Ever wanted to try the Lindy Hop?

Today might be the day.

The Harlem Swing Dance Society is inviting everyone—yes, even beginners—to step onto the dance floor and experience one of Harlem’s greatest cultural exports.

You don’t need perfect rhythm.

You just need the courage to say yes.

Evening — End Somewhere Beautiful

If your schedule allows, make your way to The Met Cloisters.

Tucked away in Fort Tryon Park, it’s one of Manhattan’s most peaceful corners. Medieval architecture, quiet gardens, and sweeping views of the Hudson River make it feel as though you’ve left the city without ever crossing a bridge.

It’s proof that adventure doesn’t always require a passport.

Sometimes it only requires curiosity.
