I have a confession.
I rarely take the fastest route anywhere.
Not because I’m late—although that certainly happens—but because New York has taught me that the scenic route usually has the better story.
The best espresso I’ve ever had wasn’t recommended by an influencer. I found it because I missed a turn.
One of my favorite bookstores appeared after I ducked inside to escape the rain.
I’ve discovered musicians playing in subway stations who moved me more than performers I’d paid to see.
That’s New York.
The city rewards curiosity.
Harlem rewards it even more.
Every block has a story.
Every storefront has a dream behind it.
Every neighborhood elder carries enough wisdom to fill a library, if only we’d slow down long enough to listen.
This morning on The Morning Show NYC, we talked about discovery.
Not the kind that requires a passport or a five-star hotel.
The kind that’s waiting just beyond your usual routine.
Maybe it’s finally walking into that museum you’ve passed a hundred times.
Maybe it’s saying hello to the owner of the neighborhood bakery.
Maybe it’s buying flowers for no special occasion.
Or perhaps it’s simply looking up.
Have you noticed how many people walk through New York looking down at their phones?
Meanwhile, some of the world’s most beautiful architecture is happening several stories above them.
The city is constantly trying to get our attention.
We just have to look.

At Mood Magazine NYC, that’s our promise to you.
We’ll point you toward remarkable people.
We’ll introduce you to unforgettable places.
We’ll celebrate businesses that make our neighborhoods stronger.
We’ll encourage you to eat well, travel often, support the arts, and remain endlessly curious.
Because a beautiful life doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s cultivated.
One thoughtful decision at a time.
So this week, I hope you’ll choose the scenic route.
You never know what—or who—you might discover.
See you on the radio tomorrow morning.
