New York City has never had a shortage of things to do.

The problem has always been knowing where to look.

A visitor can arrive in New York with thousands of recommendations at their fingertips and still miss the places that make a neighborhood feel alive. A lifelong New Yorker can live blocks away from a remarkable restaurant, bookstore, church, gallery, cultural institution or Black-owned business and never know it exists.

That is the problem Mood Map was created to solve.

Mood Map is a new way to discover, experience and support New York.

It is designed to help people find the places, businesses, institutions and experiences that make the city worth exploring, particularly the people and communities that are too often left outside the usual travel guides.

Make it easier to find us.

Make it easier to experience us.

Make it easier to support us.

That is the idea behind the map.

A Different Way to Experience New York

Mood Map is being built for the person who wants more than another list of tourist attractions.

It is for the visitor looking for Sunday worship.

For the couple looking for a Black-owned restaurant.

For the family searching for something cultural to do.

For the traveler planning a weekend in Harlem.

For the New Yorker looking for a new bookstore, museum, gallery or neighborhood experience.

For the music lover looking for a performance.

For the person who simply wants to wake up and ask:

What can I discover today?

Mood Map brings those possibilities together.

Users can explore places across the city and pin the places they want to visit, creating their own New York experience one discovery at a time.

A day can begin with brunch.

Continue with a visit to a museum.

Move into an afternoon of shopping.

End with a concert, an opera, a play or an evening out.

Or it can begin with church on Sunday morning and continue through a restaurant, bookstore, cultural institution and community event.

The experience becomes connected.

More Than a Map

Mood Map is part of a larger vision being developed through the Mood Media Network.

The goal is not simply to list businesses.

The goal is to create community infrastructure.

When a visitor discovers a church, that church can become the beginning of a larger experience.

When someone finds a restaurant, they can discover the bookstore around the corner.

When they attend a performance, they can find a nearby Black-owned business.

When they stay at a hotel, they can discover the culture surrounding it.

Every discovery has the potential to lead to another.

And that matters.

Because visibility is opportunity.

A business cannot be supported if people do not know it exists.

A cultural institution cannot welcome new audiences if visitors never find the door.

A church cannot welcome travelers if it is invisible to the person searching for a place to worship.

A young artist cannot discover an opportunity if no one tells them where it is.

Mood Map is being built to help close those gaps.

For Travelers, New Yorkers and Sunday Morning

New York is one of the world’s great travel destinations, but the city is also made up of thousands of smaller worlds.

Harlem is one.

Brooklyn is many.

The Bronx has stories that visitors rarely encounter.

Queens contains communities from around the world.

Staten Island has its own culture waiting to be explored.

Mood Map invites people to move through New York with curiosity.

It is a tool for travelers planning their visit, but it is equally for New Yorkers who want to experience their own city differently.

And it is being built with faith communities in mind.

Through the Mood Church Partner Network, churches can become part of the larger map, making it easier for visitors and residents to discover places to worship and connect with communities across the city.

A Sunday experience does not have to end at the church door.

It can become a day of discovery.

Pin Your New York

One of the simplest ideas behind Mood Map may also be one of the most powerful.

See something you want to experience? Pin it.

Build your own list.

Plan your own day.

Create your own Mood Trail through New York City.

Maybe your trail is food.

Maybe it is faith.

Maybe it is Black culture.

Maybe it is music.

Maybe it is art.

Maybe it is fashion.

Maybe it is simply a search for something beautiful.

Mood Map gives people a place to begin.

The City Is Waiting

New York has always rewarded curiosity.

Turn the corner.

Walk another block.

Go inside.

Ask a question.

Try something new.

Mood Map is an invitation to bring that same spirit into the digital world.

Not to replace the experience of the city.

But to help people find it.

The restaurant.

The church.

The bookstore.

The theater.

The museum.

The hotel.

The cultural institution.

The Black-owned business.

The performance.

The experience you did not know you were looking for.

Until now.

Mood Map is helping New Yorkers and visitors discover more of the city, one pin at a time.

Because the best New York experiences are not always the ones everyone already knows about.

Sometimes they are waiting for you to find them.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

What is one place in New York City you love that more people should know about?

STAY IN THE MOOD

The city is full of places waiting to be discovered.

A new restaurant.

A hidden cultural treasure.

A church.

A bookstore.

A performance.

A business with a story worth knowing.

Go somewhere new.

Support something local.

Discover your city again.

Pin it. Plan it. Experience it.

Stay in the Mood.
