Harlem has always been a stage — a canvas for brilliance, a rhythm for revolution, a home for stories that the world couldn’t ignore. In that spirit, we are proud to announce the launch of the Noir Film Festival, a new cinematic tradition that brings Black filmmakers from across the globe into the heart of Harlem for three days of powerful storytelling, dialogue, and celebration.
Set for June 12–14, 2026, the inaugural festival will be held at the Harlem Collective Theater — our brand-new 200-seat venue dedicated to healing, imagination, and Black excellence. This will be more than a weekend of film screenings. It will be a reunion. A revival. A radical act of cultural preservation.

Why “Noir”?
In French, “noir” means black. In cinema, it means mystery, mood, and edge. But in Harlem, noir means legacy. Style. Soul. It’s the elegance of our expression, the grit of our history, and the glow of our future.
The Noir Film Festival will spotlight films that reflect the beauty and complexity of the Black experience — stories of love and resistance, documentaries that uncover truth, experimental pieces that stretch the imagination, and quiet portraits of Black life that remind us why we create.
A Vision Rooted in Community
This festival was born during the pandemic, in conversation with award-winning Black filmmakers in Chicago and Los Angeles who were looking for a home for their work — a sacred space where Black stories could be seen and held without compromise. Harlem is that home.
Now, in partnership with Mood Magazine, The Morning Show NYC, and our full Harlem Collective Media Network, we are building something enduring. Every film selected will receive press coverage, social media support, and a seat at the table of cultural change. We are not just screening films. We are building a new archive of Black cinematic excellence.
A Global Invitation
We’re calling on filmmakers across the diaspora to submit their work beginning August 1, 2025. Whether you’re a veteran with festival accolades or an emerging voice with something to say — if your story is rooted in truth, beauty, and Blackness, we want to see it.

Harlem as a Destination
The Noir Film Festival will be more than a local event — it will be a global Harlem destination experience. Expect red carpets. Rooftop mixers. Walkable tours of Harlem’s historic cultural landmarks. A special summer issue of Mood Magazine. And above all, a city-wide invitation to gather in joy, celebration, and truth.
Because Harlem has always been where the world watches.
And this time, the lens is ours.
