Title: “Money Doesn’t Heal You — But Clarity Does”
Section: Lifestyle / Financial Wellness + Luxe Cuisine crossover
When people talk about financial wellness, they usually mean budgets, credit scores, and how to eat on $5 a day.
That’s not what I came to talk about.
Because I know what it feels like to have money but still feel broke — emotionally, spiritually, energetically.
And I know what it feels like to eat kale in a beautiful kitchen and still feel like I’m choking on silence.
So when I say financial wellness, I mean wholeness.
I mean a relationship with money that doesn’t come from fear.
I mean asking yourself: What am I really hungry for?
Let’s talk about that.
The Lie: Wealth Means You’re Winning
We live in a time where money is performance. If you look successful, post like you’re successful, and book just enough deposits — people assume you’re whole.
But here’s what I’ve learned working with Black women, Black entrepreneurs, and Black elders in Harlem and beyond:
You can have a six-figure year and still feel trapped.
You can buy the brunch, the trip, the luxury, and still carry shame.
You can eat at the most expensive restaurant and still feel like you have to shrink.
Because money doesn’t fix the wound. It just dresses it. And if you don’t do the inner healing, you’ll just keep changing the bandage.

What Are You Actually Feeding?
Let’s go to the table. The literal one.
You’re ordering the most beautiful plate. The greens are massaged. The salmon is wild. The drink is garnished with dehydrated rose petals. It’s giving abundance.
But if you’re eating it to prove you’re worthy…
If you’re filming it just to feel seen…
If you’re using it to fill a silence that scares you…
Then baby, you’re not feeding your body. You’re feeding your lack.
Money isn’t evil. But when you haven’t healed your scarcity story, money becomes another mask. Another coping mechanism. Another identity you have to perform instead of just live.
How I Started Over
I’ll tell you the truth. My financial healing didn’t start with a spreadsheet. It started the day I admitted I didn’t trust myself with joy.
I could save. I could invest. I could coach others. But I didn’t know how to feel safe when things were good.
Because good felt like a trap. Like something that would be taken away.
So I did the work. I unlearned my fear of abundance. I rewrote what “luxury” meant to me. I learned to spend money in ways that felt aligned, not impressive.
Now, luxury isn’t a price point. It’s a vibration. It’s the energy of peace. Of presence. Of fullness that doesn’t beg to be seen.
My Financial Ritual for Harlem Readers
Let’s do a reset — a real one. Something honest.
Here’s your wellness tip for today:
Do a soul audit before you do a budget.
Ask yourself:
- What purchases are soothing my anxiety instead of serving my vision?
- Where am I undercharging because I don’t think I’m enough?
- Where am I overworking because I’m afraid to rest?
- What would I spend money on if I trusted that it wouldn’t run out?
Write it down. No guilt. No shame. Just honesty.

Then go make a meal — for you. Something beautiful. Doesn’t have to be expensive. Just intentional. Light a candle. Pour a drink. Bless your food and your future.
I hope this article reminds you:
You are already valuable.
And your money, your meals, and your milestones are all just mirrors.
Let them reflect your healing — not your hustle.
