Welcome to the Noir Film Festival — Harlem’s newest cinematic tradition, spotlighting the voices, visions, and brilliance of Black filmmakers across the globe.
From Chicago to Los Angeles, Harlem to the Caribbean, we’re curating a powerful lineup of films that reflect the depth, nuance, and cultural legacy of the African diaspora. Hosted at the Harlem Collective Theater, this three-day summer festival is more than a screening — it’s a movement. It’s cinema as soul work. It’s storytelling as revolution. It’s Harlem’s voice on the global stage.
Call for Submissions
We’re seeking short films, features, documentaries, and experimental works by Black filmmakers across genres — with a special emphasis on stories rooted in community, transformation, romance, resistance, and the sacred ordinary.
Selected filmmakers will:
- Have their work screened before live audiences at the Harlem Collective Theater
- Participate in talkbacks, panels, and industry mixers
- Be featured in Mood Magazine’s special summer issue
- Receive press exposure through our media network and podcast interviews
- Join a new cinematic tradition that uplifts and archives our brilliance

We honor the tradition of Black storytelling through film — from Blaxploitation to modern romance, from experimental to gospel-rich documentaries — and bring it home to Harlem, where culture is born.
