This August, Harlem gets a new kind of kitchen — one where healing, heritage, and whole foods come together. Inside the newly launched Harlem Collective Studio Theater, we’re opening the doors to our café and demo kitchen for a powerful new series of LifeDay events rooted in nourishment, culture, and community.

Our cooking Life Events are more than just classes — they’re rituals of self-love.

Led by founder Jarvus Ricardo Hester, Single in the City: Life in the Kitchen kicks off the series. Inspired by his cookbook — Single in the City on Amazon — these cooking demos are filled with practical wisdom from celebrity chefs and grounded in the lived reality of solo cooking in New York City.

The focus? Earth-grown food. Beans. Lentils. Whole vegetables. Soulful flavor. Vibrant health.

Whether you’re learning how to prepare vegan comfort food, exploring international rice and lentil recipes, or joining a live demo with a guest chef, every LifeDay event is designed to reconnect you with the healing power of food — and with yourself.

Why it matters:

In a city where most people are cooking for one, these events remind us that feeding yourself well is not an act of loneliness — it’s an act of love. And in a community working to restore its health and joy, food becomes a bridge to wholeness.

Each event will be hosted in our café space inside the Harlem Collective Theater at 1952 First Avenue Suite 2H New York, NY 10029 — a flexible venue designed for both performance and healing.

We’re cooking for wellness. Cooking for justice. Cooking for joy.

And this August, the table is set. You’re invited.

Calling All Farmers & Makers

If you grow food or make specialty organic products in Harlem or the greater New York area, we want to feature you. These events are more than cooking classes — they’re an opportunity to uplift our local food system, spotlight wellness-driven brands, and build economic power through community support.

We’re seeking:

– Urban farmers and growers

– Small-batch food producers (herbal teas, sauces, preserves, wellness snacks, etc.)

– Vegan and whole-food product creators

– Anyone with a story rooted in healing through food

This is your chance to share your product and your purpose with our audience.

Each event will be hosted in our café space inside the Harlem Collective Theater at 20 [Street TBD] — a flexible venue designed for both performance and healing.

We’re cooking for wellness. Cooking for justice. Cooking for joy.

And this August, the table is set. You’re invited.
